Invitation Letter to foreign nationals for tourism

When a foreigner travels to the Argentine Republic for tourism and stays at the home of a resident in Argentina, the inviting party must prepare a letter of invitation to be sent to the Argentine consular authority abroad.

The letter of invitation serves only to initiate the visa application process and does not guarantee, under any circumstances, the granting of the visa to the foreigner. This letter is of an informal nature.

The note may be made in accordance with one of the following two procedures:

A) Invitation note in paper format

B) Electronic letter of invitation via the TAD platform.

Requirements:

A) Invitation letter in paper format

Be written in Spanish.

Be addressed to the intervening consular authority (e.g. to the Consul of the Republic in ).

Contain all personal and contact details of the inviting person residing in Argentina: name and surname, ID number, address, landline or mobile phone number and e-mail address.

Contain all the details of the foreign guest: name and surname, nationality, date of birth, passport type and number, landline or mobile phone, e-mail address and any other contact details at the place of residence.

Explain the reason for the trip, relationship of the inviting party with the guest, length of stay in the Republic, place of accommodation and estimated date of arrival and departure.

Indicate that the signatory is responsible for the departure of the foreigner from the country upon expiry of the authorised period of stay.

Include the following paragraph: As a guest of foreigners, I have read and understand the terms established in Chapter VI of Law 25.871, articles 116, 117, 118, 119, 120 and 121.

Contain the signature of the inviting party, certified by Notary Public and the corresponding Notary Association.

Be sent in original, by post, to the Argentine Embassy or Consulate where the foreigner is applying for his/her visa.

Observations:

Clarification: In the case of a tourist group that has contracted the services of a travel agency, and provided that the visa applications are submitted to the same Argentine Representation, a single invitation note may be accepted, with the list of travellers. This list must contain surname and first name, date of birth, nationality, type and number of travel document and contact details (telephone and e-mail address) of the foreigners invited. The list should, in principle, be included in the invitation note and not attached to it, unless it is a long list. If there are annexes, they must also be signed by the inviting party and their signature must be certified before a notary public and the corresponding Notary Association. In the case of a family group, a single note may also be accepted.

B) Electronic invitation letter through the TAD platform

Residents in Argentina who wish to invite foreigners for tourism purposes may alternatively process an electronic letter of invitation through the Plataforma de Trámites a Distancia (TAD), which will be automatically sent to the consulate involved for verification and inclusion in the corresponding visa process. With this procedure, it is not necessary to draw it up on paper, have it certified by a notary public or send it by post to the consulate.

Who can invite through the TAD (Trámites a Distancia) platform?

Individuals resident in Argentina who have a CUIT/CUIL and AFIP personal password.

How do I invite through the TAD (Trámites a Distancia) platform?

The individual enters the website https://tramitesadistancia.gob.ar/.

Choose the option ‘AFIP’ on the top bar and fill in their CUIT/CUIL and AFIP personal password to validate their identity.

Type in the search engine ‘Invitation letter’ and select the procedure ‘Invitation letter to apply for Foreigners' Visas’.

No more than ONE (1) person may be invited per procedure. Any application involving more than one guest will not be considered.

Click on ‘complete’ in the item ‘Procedure details’ and indicate the Argentine consulate where the foreigner will apply for the visa.

Click on "Complete" in the "Application Form" item and fill in the details of the inviting party. Since this is an invitation for tourism, the company name and RENURE number will not be filled in. However, the link to the inviting party and the details of the invited foreigner must be completed and specified.

Attach a scanned copy of the foreigner's passport and any other documentation that you consider relevant to the procedure.

Press "confirm procedure" to close the TAD.

The foreign guest or his/her guest will indicate the Electronic File number to the Argentine Consulate.

Remarks:

IMPORTANT: It is reminded that promoting or facilitating the illegal stay of foreigners in the Argentine territory to obtain a benefit is punishable by 1 (one) to 6 (six) years imprisonment. It is recommended to all guests to read Chapter VI of the Migration Law No. 25.871 regarding migration offences. This regulation can be consulted at the following link: https://www.infoleg.gob.ar/
